With nearly 30 years of experience in public affairs, Greg TenEyck is responsible for the image, reputation and advocacy of Safeway Inc. throughout its Eastern Division marketing area. He joined Safeway in 1997 and directs a staff that manages the company's customer relations, government affairs, media relations and community outreach in the division, which operates 180 stores in the Washington, Baltimore and Philadelphia metro regions.
Prior to Safeway, Greg was vice president of communications for Interstate General Company, a diversified real estate organization. He started his career as a news aide in the sports department of The Washington Post and then moved on to assistant director of public relations for the Capital Centre, senior account executive at Charles Brotman and Associates and public relations director for Cardinal Industries, before spending nine years at Interstate General. He earned his bachelor's degree in Journalism at the University of Maryland.
Among his community activities, he is an active member of Church of the Redeemer in Gaithersburg, Md. He also serves Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Capital Area Food Bank, immediate past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Maryland Retailers Association, and is a board member for the Virginia Retail Merchants Association, the Delaware Food Industry Association, Pennsylvania Food Merchants Association, the Maryland Chamber of Commerce and Keep Washington (DC) Beautiful. Greg makes his home in Goshen, Maryland with his wife and two children.
